The year 2014 was not very good to Darius Stevens. He was approaching his 40th birthday when he lost his job and all of his money. After noticing a couple of strange patches on his skin, he was later diagnosed with skin cancer. As if that wasn’t enough, he looked at his backyard and said it was downright depressing.
Darius still didn’t let that get him down, he knew that there were people out there that had life much worse. He considered himself fortunate to have a loving wife and two healthy children. That’s when Darius came up with the idea to do something very special for his family. He set out to surprise his wife and kids and renovate that depressing backyard!
Darius had a vision in mind, but with the help of Pinterest, he created something much larger than his original plan. Instead of presents for his 40th birthday, he asked his friends and family to give him wood and lumber. He then sent his wife on a surprise trip to New York City. While she was away, his friends and daughters helped him create an outstanding new backyard!
He built a deck, pergola, playhouse and planted a beautiful garden. When his wife returned from her trip, she was stunned at what her husband created!
