Black Friday Kicks Off With Brawls

Black-and-blue Friday was in full force in malls around the country. Shoppers turned violent during the annual buying frenzy.

At one Colorado shopping center, disturbing video captured the brawl where police and firefighters found two teen girls exchanging blows in the mall.  The footage shows one woman on the floor of the Riverchase Galleria in Hoover, while shoppers hold back the second woman before she breaks free and sends the contents of a sales table flying. An officer contains her at that point.

Another brawl broke out at the Buckle store. During the melee, a shoe flew over the railing and hit a baby one level below, which sparked another skirmish, an onlooker said.

Officers said the fights were personal and not over sales. The paramedics treated one of the women at the scene for minor injuries.

Outside of Houston, a man was shot, and another stabbed when they got into a fight outside a mall Friday. The two men were arguing in a Sears parking lot when one of the men pulled out a gun and opened fire, and the second stabbed the gunman. Both men were taken to a nearby hospital.

There was a second reported Black Friday mall shooting when a 19-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries after being shot outside a mall in Columbia, Missouri.

Police say that the victim was sitting in a car with another man when one of the men tried to holster a gun and it went off.
