According to authorities, a Las Vegas teen assaults teacher, beating and choking after approaching him to discuss his grades. Jonathan Eluterio Martinez Garcia, 16, was arrested on Friday and charged with a plethora of counts, including attempted murder, in connection with the alleged attack.
On Thursday, the adolescent went to the teacher’s classroom at Eldorado High School and became violent, according to police. “[He] began punching the victim and strangled her until she lost consciousness,” police said in a statement.
According to investigators, Garcia then escaped. A janitor noticed the injured teacher inside the classroom and brought her to a local hospital for treatment.
Garcia was apprehended about a mile from the school and charged with attempted murder, sexual assault, battery with intent to conduct sexual assault, first-degree kidnapping, and robbery at the Clark County Detention Center.
He is being jailed on a $500,000 bond, with a court appearance expected for Tuesday. The adolescent was told he couldn’t speak to his teacher.
