Metallic road barriers (sometimes called guard rails) are meant to keep people safe by preventing cars from going over the highway. Unfortunately, if a car hits the rail at a high enough speed, it can still cause serious damage. South Korean company ETI believes they have the answer to this problem with an innovative new design for these barriers.
By using plastic rollers between the metal columns, they are able to significantly reduce the force of impact, and help keep the vehicle from turning over. It’s a brilliant idea that could potentially save a lot of lives. Here’s hoping this comes to roadways all over the world soon.
