Mom Fighting Tears After Her Son’s Teacher Gave Him a Zero Award

There will be no participation prizes given out at this event. When a teacher allegedly gave her son a zero award in class, a Mississippi mother was left holding back tears. Her account of the inhumane treatment she received has gone viral.

Patricia Buckley, the mother of Bradley Buckley, 14, who earned a scholastic scarlet letter from a teacher at the Leake Central Junior High School in Leake County, told WAPT that she thought the honor was “very horrific” for her son. Upon picking up her son from school, the bewildered mother discovered that the prize certificate had been “balled up like he was ashamed.”

According to the student, “I was feeling sad and I didn’t really want to give it to her.”

When Patricia inquired as to what was wrong, he broke the unpleasant news to her. In their first year of teaching, Bradley’s teacher had given him “The Zero Award,” a demeaning certificate bearing his name and the words, “It’s impossible for you to be me. Don’t even bother trying. In the end, “you’ll never find an answer.”

Leake Central Junior High School has been contacted by the Washington Post for comment. Her son’s mother cried and stated he didn’t deserve such a shaming award, and she was clearly upset by the academic Razzie.

Parent: “I don’t know” when asked what “The Zero Award” was for when questioned. As a result, I dialed the superintendent’s number to learn more.

“I’m going to do what I can to prevent this from happening again,” the dedicated parent declared in the wake of the embarrassing episode. For any youngster, not only Bradley.”

Patricia claimed she had spoken to the superintendent of Leake County Schools numerous times and that he had yet to react with any answers. Bradley wants to stay at the same school, but his mother has suggested she may transfer him elsewhere because of the recent incident.

There appears to be a dramatic shift in the present trend in schools across the United States with the Zero Award debate.

The Zero Award controversy appears to be a sea change from the current trend in schools around the country, where pupils have been accused of being coddled in the name of being “woke.”

In an effort to re-engage students amid declining test performance during the epidemic, California school districts got into trouble in December after abolishing D and F grades.
