On Friday, a Texas police officer shot and killed a 13-year-old boy who was driving a stolen car, police say.

Officers from the San Antonio Police Department were dispatched to investigate reports of shots fired in the 5100 block of War Cloud Street around 1:30 a.m. when they found a red car containing three teenagers.

KSAT reports that the 13-year-old driver of a stolen vehicle backed up and hit a San Antonio police cruiser when he spotted cops in the area.

An officer fired a single shot, striking the teen car thief once in the abdomen, according to the agency. First responders were called, and he was taken by ambulance to University Hospital where he died of his injuries. His identity is still a mystery.
